 From its inception, Summerhill Clinic has had as its central focus, the educational welfare of the individual.  All other matters, no matter how important, have been secondary.  The objective has been to take the failing 'bottom quartile' students and teach them how to become capable and self-reliant.  We have worked from the premise that self-concept is enhanced as failing students see that they can learn and assume responsibility for their own learning.  We have sought to make our students independent learners.

Associated with the drive to produce capable and self-reliant learners has been the desire to help our students to enjoy the learning process.  We have continually planned to enchant them with the magic of learning: a magic that quickens and enhances daily living.  We have tried, as best we know how, to be enthusiastic champions of the learning process and to express our own joy over student learning.
