Assessment Method The assessment method includes the Summerhill Clinic Neural Development Scale (SCNDS), spoken and written language scales. A mathematics scale is also used when needed. This assessment determines the student's specific neural category. All categories lie on a continuum from 1 to 6. Category 1 includes students whose neural growth, in left, right and cooperative brains, has reached appropriate functional maturation levels, while Category 6 includes students who are significantly underdeveloped in left, right and cooperative brain processing. The other four categories are also determined by measured neural growth and lie on the continuum in descending order from 2 to 5. The SCNDS spans an age range of 5 to 12 years. A similar assessment device is used for older students.
